Bobby works as a night security guard at an apartment complex where Gabe lives. They have developed a friendship over the years, and Gabe often comes to Bobby for conversation and advice. Gabe is queer, and his family (particularly his father) strongly disapproves. He struggles with feeling unsafe at home, and when Bobby realizes he is being abused, tries to convince him to escape to a queer youth shelter that Bobby’s friend Susie works at. Meanwhile, Susie visits Bobby often, as both have feelings for each other, but Bobby lacks the confidence to act. Susie agrees to help Bobby convince Gabe to get to safety.
